As industry transition is becoming an increasingly important and complex topic for energy and climate, governments, sectors, and companies are encouraged to produce roadmaps to reflect upon their strategies. The work within the IETS TCP has included a reviewing of existing roadmaps and interviewing industry experts to collect their experience regarding this type of exercise. Based on this, experiences with industry roadmap methodologies and developments will be discussed in this session.

Since molecular size, charge and solubility are the main separation characteristics of extracted biomass compounds, membrane separation processes are key components in biorefineries. In this session, the key aspects required for the successful integration and optimisation of the different membrane technologies in the concept of biorefineries will be investigated.

In this session, experiences and findings from international networking within the IEA will be presented and discussed. Both direct and indirect electrification, e. g. heat pumping and hydrogen usage, will be included.
